    Eleitz Wetzlar 7x50 - sn 295067

    Hi. I was wondering if anybody had any idea about when this bino was manufactured. Was it made for a civil market or military? I think I read that only the ww2 issued ones were stamped with an eagle? Eleitz Wetzlar 7x50 - sn 295067
    No markings on left recticle plate. It came in a stamped leather case with eagle and M.

    It should be a wartime one with a Kriegsmarine Eagle - see this one;

    Maybe the plate with the Eagle has been refurbished - many were defaced after the war.

      ..or the eagle has been painted over?
      Not the best photo, but it looks a bit like the upper plates has been at least partly repainted.
      Try and have a close look on the left side plate. Maybe the eagle is hiding under a layer of paint.
      If possible, first try if alcohol will remove the paint. This will work vey fast if it is that kind of paint. If alcohol does not work, try thinner. But with thinner you need to be more carefull. It will also remove the original paint. So, go slowly.

        Thank you for the input. I will try to examine the left plate to see if there is an eagle there under the paint.
