Of course it's your auction but it's still misleading where can i find in your description that the stencil on the lid and the interior has been added after the war?,...every potential serious buyer still thinking that this item has no issue? Ok it's bought before 2007 and the French seller has talken bull**** but that's doesn't mean anything, it's still a restored case which is not mentioned,....... in my humble opinion the description what we know now is totally crap sorry for saying that

I agree, the story does not add up.
But Benutzer may not be the culprit. He may have bought the box as it is now. So, as it stands, IMHO there is no need to scold him.
I had hoped the bino´s were a "set" from a boat, but most likely, they are not. As I read the description, that was my impression.

Still, a rare box with 8 nice binoculars.
If I win in the lottery the next few days, I would like to place a bid.

I had not the intention to culprit or scold him at all, but i think it's would be better if he describe that the case has been restored which is still not be done. I hate always if things are been offered as untouched, pristine, original which let us believe that we have find the "holy grail" but turns out to be not. With the knowledge that we have now because of Michael Downey it's not more then fair if the seller take his responsibility, which means that he has to add more to his description then only the French bull**** story. It's totally irrelevant the question what to do if i won the lottery of course it's a beautiful lot that's not the problem

The info about the sale in 2007 has been added to the auction. Scroll down to the bottom.
I hope Benutzer knows who sold it to him. Something has happened between 2007 and today.

But even so, I must disagree with the comment on the sale.
If I had bought it with such a story, I would feel more than just disappointment.

I would very much bid to get the story as well. Now it is just 8 nice bino´s and an even nicer box.
And I don´t even have a ticket for the lottery.

I'm asking myself did you read the auction accurate?,...did he mentioned in his description about the new insight concerning the originality of this case??,...like the new white print with the letter 10 D.F. 7x50 plus a new wooden interior, do you read these things in his description???? do you Mikedenmark?????? Sorry i don't see it!!,..... Benutzer knows all of these new insights so he have to do some "homework" If you don't see it i rest my case

No, I don´t see it. That does not mean a high bidder will not be informed about it.
As the auction has allready received bids, ebay limits the options for changes.

Even if no changes happens with the auction, anyone who wins it may eventually be notified about this thread.

If I were the seller, I know what I would do, but I am not.

First I must express my admiration for Mike Downey for his exellent memory.

Dear Siggi, I think Mikedenmark is right. The thing is getting dangerus. The value of a box with 8 uboat binoculars is not peanuts.
I am not a lawman but I think continuing the sale with the knowlege you now have comes close to a fraude. Even if you have added your comment on the bottom line.
Why do you not pull the auktion and start over again?

helping hand to write the add Text perfect.

                  Dear Binoswede
The reason why i didnt close the auction and
Start again is that EBay give the opertunity
to add text and photos to the auction ...
but i will inform all bidders which gave the
offer after i have written the add text

PS my name is not Siggi

                  Thanks for all comments

I think Binoswede has given you the best option and that's withdraw the auction and do it right before placing it back good luck

I don't think there's any need to close the auction - many listings have info added throughout the auction when ebayers message the seller with new info - in fact some sellers openly ask for info which they then add.

Michael Downey did some great detective work (for which we're often grateful on this forum) and Benutzer's adding the new info.
