I'm in search of information regarding the dis-assembly, lubrication and/ or pictures, blue prints or drawings for the internal workings of the vertical elevation assembly to the 10x80 cradle /swing assembly (Träger) - this is the Cradle/Swing assembly with vertical angle scale settings- (may also known as a binocular yoke, yoke mount, cradle assembly, cradle for vertical elevation, etc. )
I have recently acquired an un-restored circa 1943-1945 Busche (CXN) 10x80 binocular set, unrestored but complete with the corresponding yoke and tripod, the Yoke is marked [ BEF No. 2470] ; currently the yoke is un-moveable and mechanically is stuck in the horizontal position, (binocular will not elevate in the vertical either up or down, probably due to a combination of the grease hardening after 70+ years, corrosion, dust, dirt or grime).
I'm mechanically able to dis-assemble it, having read in this forum and others the precautions to take when removing small screws, staked-pins, grub-screws, and similar items- I'm just seeking any information that would provide guidance as to the dis-assembly of the yoke to assist in my work to return this to a functional item. What is recommended for replacement lubrication/ grease?
2 items on this yoke are of interest compared to others yokes that I've seen pictures of:
1) the vertical rotating knob on the left side is metal, not resin/bakelite/cellulose;
2) the vertical angle index/ display has a small knob protruding away from the assembly, apparently to lock the assembly at either 90° or 0° degrees.
Thanks!
