This thread is about the cxn marked uboat binoculars only.

The blc numbers are covered by the books written by Dr. Hans. T. Seeger.

The two numbers you have, are both from a large 4000 sequence, dated 1943-44. Numbers runs: 44801-48800.

Yes agreed quite uncommon to see KM eagle engraved on cxn 8 x 60 u-boots. So uncommon that only one cxn 8 x 60 u-boot bino with KM eagle has been recorded.

Personally, I do not have much (if any) confidence of the KM eagle having been period applied. In addition, the binos in question have been repainted (at least in places) which would provide the opportunity to conceal a fresh engraving.

The fact that the seller didn't comment on it (or show it well) may indicate he's unsure too....

I think, I have seen one engraved eagle on an allready sold 8x60. Shown on the homepage of a swedish ( I think) shop selling marine items, compasses, lanterns etc... Weird shop and weird homepage..looked deserted when I first saw it.
I don´t know, or recall, if that was this serial number.

As for not showing the eagle. If it was offered on ebay, that may be the explanation.
The only known lower number, 426503, should probably have the eagle as well. Did anyone keep photo´s from that auction in 2014 ?

Maybe you're right - his other auction for a KM 8x30 Zeiss doesn't highlight the Eagle etc either.

Exactly, so the conclusion is obvious IMO: this eagle is added postwar! Also note the comments abouts the different painting tones. I hope at least the cxn and serial number engraving is original, ...
