I have found a pair of Carl Zeiss for sale from an online militaria dealer that has Waffenampt markings as well as the swedish crown stamp - it is also marked Dienstglas...

I gather these would have been sent over for swedish use after they were used by the Germans in WW2...

Seems to tick all the boxes... Although I would prefer the swedish crown to not be on there - ive hardly seen any on offer with Waffenampts...
      Hi Max,
I agree with Palmenmuster, but to clarify a point - Hensoldt , Carl Zeiss , Busch and Spindler & Hoyer all had large contracts to supply new binoculars to Sweden during WW2 .It would appear that German manufacturers mainly supplied the Swedish WW2 contracts with binoculars with their commercial logos .
On the Waffenamt point . I have seen this acceptance mark only on Carl Zeiss Dienstglas 6x30 binocs. Some of these waffenamt marked binocs were Carl Zeiss (with Swedish Crown markings) and Carl Ziess German army contracts made during 1939 and both are marked WaA202 on the base. According to Hans Seeger's Militarisch Fernglaser und Fernrohre - 1939 production seems to be the only year when Carl Zeiss binocs have a WaA 202, and it appeared across Dienstglas 6x30,7x50 and 10x50 range.

Ok, so now im undecided again.

So should I be going for just a straight-up Dienstglas marked set if I want a genuine German WW2 pair...? Obviously minus any Swedish Crown details etc...

I guess the only issue there is that the Swedish ones are in far better shape - in general, from what I have seen (kept in good working order).

Here are the pics of the bino's I have been referrig to : what do you guys think...? It has the Waffenampt on the 4th pic.

          Hi

That pair you now showing is bought by the Swedish Army under the war.
Sweden was the only country who could by optics from Germany then.
They are original German the only thing is the Swedish crown marking

I understand this, but given that they have a waffenampt and the other serial numbers... would or even could they have been used prior to the Swedish Army taking them over...

I saw another Swedish Crown marked set that had 1942 on them...

              Hi

All binos that Sweden bought then was brand new.

Sweden bought about 16750 pcs of 6x30 binos
Of them 9000 pcs was Carl Zeiss

                Thanks for the info Andy...

As you can see from the pics, the pair I am talking about are almost identical to the pics you posted.

Ill probably still get them as they are mint condition...

Ziess Deltrintem Binoculars US or German?

I am new to the group. My question is about a pair of Zeiss binoculars. My father was in the 17th AB and entered Germany in March 1945 and was there until mid 1946.
He brought home these binoculars. markings are Carl Zeiss over Jena on one side and Deltrintem, 1388004, 8x30 on the other. Are these US or German issue?

deltrintem has center focus of the oculars. This means they are less waterresistant.
They are usually not military issue. Exceptions exist, but most are civilian.
