Very nice collection and nice uboat binos,

I didnt love that thy are new paintet.
They are more than 50 years old so its not a disgrace if some of the paint is missing.

        Hi Siegfried,
I must agree with you about the re-paint on the bino's!
Better to have the original old paint than a nice fresh paint job!

Hello, I agree. When I saw some of these they appeared just too fresh, ditto the rubber. There were many stacks of lens/optic containers also. Not pictured was a huge set of Jap. battleship optics. I might be visiting him in the next few months and see about more pics. Regards Bill

That UZO looks nice , becoming hard to get.
              A very nice group indeed.
I agree with benutzer - I would leave the paint alone , honest wear gives character , a respray is too much.

An apology for my lack of knowledge. Which one is the UZO and why is it so desirable? Bill

                  Uzo

Bill , the grey binocular standing on its objectives , large brass screw fitting on it.
Just saw the other jpegs , my word that is some collection and no mistake , mind blowing , I have about 50 sets of various kinds but its small compared to your friends.
Five 10x80's , must be by different makers , the 12x60's as well , perhaps differenr graticules in them.
The Kgm 80 is a looker really nice.
My thanks to the owner for allowing us a look at them , brill !

                    Uzo

UZO's are tough to find in the States. Not many were produced and very few where brought home by returning GIs. As they are solid brass, they are quite heavy and difficult to hold. If you find one with fogged optics I would pass as they are difficult to clean.

I found this somewhat blurred shot and another type to be identified. Bill

                          Uboat

The last photo is of a 7x50 Leitz rubber armoured Uboat Binocular. Appears to be in very nice condition.

                            Leitz 8x60

Bill , it looks like the very rare leitz 8x60 to me and one in mint order as well.
This is a very, well perhaps the best example of a very rare binocular you may ever see.
Optically it was not a great set but they are even harder to get than the UZO.
                            Very prone to fogging.
Bill , the gent you visited had one heck of a collection !
