    Zeiss 7x50H

    I am asking for some expertice. I recently acquired a Zeiss 7x50H.
    Unlike others I have seen, I can not find a serial number
    What is the letter/number set on the right prism cover?

    Nice find! If the serial was on the end washer and the washer's missing, you can estimate the date and serial range by certain features (position of strap lugs, thickness of prism plate etc) but your markings might help too;

        Happy to help! The MAZa marking looks a little irregular - do you think it's been re-instated after being defaced?

        PS I've just had a look in Seeger's green book and he shows a 7x50H Maza 318 (but with no serial washer) estimated 1937/ 38 so I'd say your's will be 1937.

          I agree, looking at it with a magnifying glass, it appears repaired.
          What seems to happen frequently, the eagle gets ground off, then later the prism plate gets covered, then later, repaired.
          I have one binocular that was "resurrected" like that.

          Thank you for the info from the Seeger book.

            Still a very desirable bino - I wouldn't worry about it. Does it have the small circle reticle that some DF7x50's have?

              Yes, in the right view, there is a small circular reticle.
              The glass seems very good, they are just a little "misty', so they have been sent to be "cleaned and collimated"

                You're lucky it's just misty - they often have damaged prisms. My raggedy one (not MAZa) has chips but, after cleaning, is probably the best hand held 7x50 German bino to look through.
