Late War Luftwaffe Lantern?

Hi all,

I originaly posted this in the general Wehrmacht equipment forum but didnt really get anywhere. So I am trying again on here.

I have this lantern that looks like a Luftwaffe one but is a lot smaller.
It is only 22cm high instead of the standard 26cm.
It is made from steel instead of aluminium.
It has no markings on it at all.

Both lanterns are identical except for the size, so is my one a late war economy lantern? Or a post war knock off?

To answer this can people who have full size Luftwaffe lanterns tell me, what is the latest date they can find. Maybe there was a cut off date for the full size ones before they made the smaller ones.

I need a answer people because it is driving me a little bit mad.

I also have one of these smaller lanterns. Mine is painted field gray, maker marked and dated 1938.

It is not a late war Luftwaffe lantern. It could be from some other military branch or perhaps more likely, a paramilitary or civilian lantern. Nobody knows.

Thank you for your post, I even commented on that one back in 2007, my memory is shocking sometimes!

Trouble is mine has no markings or dates on it which i find a bit odd. is your small lantern made from Alu or steel?
