Good original Luftwaffe tropenhelm. The problem with these is that it will probably cost you more to replace the missing eagle shield than the helmet cost you.

I don't know the makers from the RBNr numbers and I'm not sure how you find them, but maybe someone does, as it would be interesting to know.

Sometimes they are maker marked on the metal vent in the dome.

I agree with Jerry, the pith helmet is a good one. The original luft eagles are hard to get by, and are not cheap (compared to the WH shields). But, if you could complete this one again, you will have a beautifull pith!

About the RBNr, really don't have a clue. interesting to see the date 1943, together with the RBNr. in a 1st pattern one. Makes it one of last produced. Nice!

                      "So difficult to find eagle."

Not impossible if you look and are quick.

very nice example, but pricey, as they often are when you can find one.

As hard to find as fine examples are, the price is in line with what is usually seen at larger shows in the US.

If you do find the eagle, good luck getting it on without breaking the pins off. You'll have to bend them twice, and since they probably have been bent before, there is a good chance you'll break at least one of the three, if not two or more.
Risky for such a rare and pricey item.
