    Lufty kanaljake

Hi. I'm new here, and not really a collector. More a restorer & repairer. I have a customer jacket here and he has asked if I can get any more information on it (he is not a computer person). The jacket is in grey shearling, collar black, waist canvas. badges & maker label / contract label as shown. Any information would be good. The jacket appears "right". The badges have not been disturbed and the stitching (except where we have had to repair it) all seems of an age. What the owner really wants is advice on how to try to put a name to it. It belonged to a relatively senior officer so there is possibly a chance ?

Generalleutnant no ? Oberleutnant would be two gulls & bar in silver / white as I understand it, rather than gold / yellow.

Anyone know anything about Loutre AG of Sofia ?

yellow is generaleutnant yeah my mistake

but that's weird in a way, such a rank does not really fly and it is a flight jacket

The jacket itself is good though, but i have never seen one in this type of leather finish, has it been treated/polished/re-finished?

Yes, at some point it has been badly refinished in places., especially the arms near the cuffs. If it has been dolled up it was done sometime back as the owner has history on it from the early 1960s when it was brought by a collector in Norfolk.

"LOUTRE" AG is one of the prominent producter of this type of garnment... you can found it in almost all tha flyight gear of this type (also in the white one). No problem with the jacket itself. The badges however are junk! Eagle and P/O badge also are not often applied on this type of jacket...

                    Cheers!
