    Verbandkaste LW decal!

Hello, I bought this verbandkasten which has a large LW decal applied.

I saw two of these before, and the decal seems period applied!

I have over 13 years of experience in collecting and it really looks fine to me, but my doubt is why put such a large decal on it?

It is dated 1939 and inside it is field grey/green, there is no trace of any other collor paint underneeth the tan/ light green

    any information?

    Hi Dmv,

I'm sorry, but.. this decal has just been added in an 'increasing value' objective..

The box may be original but IMO, red cross, outside paint (and maybe Verbandkasten stencil) may have been applied one or two years ago max...

    Regards.

Just try to eliminate the paint with acetone for instance...

        Hi,

        Bruno is right..
I have also my doubts about the whole paintwork...

Decal is certainly not original to the verbandkasten

I believe this is the type of decal used on some Luftwaffe radios.

There's a certain fake luft helmet decal on the market and this is its larger sister, same errors.., also saw them stamped in ink on cloth fantasy armbands, again the very same design with same errors..

It's a oversized (fake) helmet decal actually, no more.., these were probably a bonus from the printer if the customer took 500 fake helmet decals normal size.., or something.

Eagle is a 110% fake and that's for sure, besides that it's a fantasy item and doesn't make sense on a box like this.. and yes, I also think the whole outside paintjob was done postwar..
Another box we saw had the rust coming through the eagle, which means the whole box was done postwar and some acid did its work.
Saw a few of these on ebay over a period of time and that's a bad sign .., they come from sellers who, let's say, are specialized in the somewhat so-called exotic items..
In this case the fantasy eagle is the big red flag, followed by the artifical attempt to give both eagle and paint a rusty look at the same area... and this is the big mistake, because now not only the eagle, but also the paint is fake.
Also, the paint shows some "shapes" of acid/solder fluid use on the lid.
A third remark is the red cross, which looks like a sticker, but I might be wrong..

If possible, I'd return this item to the seller and if it's a dealer he will probably know without any reason why it is returned..

            Jos.

Not this type, the radio ones are painted on and different design..
