MG34 / MG42 Drum carrier , original or post war ???

Can one of you tell me if ths MG drum holder is war or post war ??

I would say WAR from those pics. It looks like a French post war repaint...but more info would help:

What colour paint is under that black one?
There should be some stamps on the drums and on the handle side of the carrier.

I removed the paints on two spots , and it is WW2 , only post war repainted.

Used turpentine, not acetone. Turpentine is slower but safer, as acetone would destroy the original paint.

French usually repaint everything in kaki-green ...
I thought it was Austrian repaint until now ?

I always thought these were French reissue because they appeared by hundreds in France about 25 years ago. If you say they are Austrian reissue, perfect! makes no real difference.

The austrian Gendarmerie repainted also in grey 10000's of WH helmets , sold on the surplus market in Europe in the 80's as well .

The good thing is that this grey/black paint they used is not so difficult to remove as other repaints.
