So . . .are these things safe to play with "as is"? Do they contain any type of energetic compound?


Any story on the vet who brought them back? Seems like sort of an odd thing for a vet to select as a war trophy . . . unless he had a particular interest in ordnance and/or mechanical things. Thus, I'm curious as to whether you have any ideas why the vet may have brought these back.

I do believe they have small cap primers in them, as shown in the wonderful diagram attached by Klarkon. Safe? Can’t say. I don’t plan on depressing them.

The vet was in ordnance, so probably a good choice for him for a souvenir.
