Does anyone know where the box belongs to?

It's a regular 500 round box. Used in WWI it was still used in WWII, either for ammo or as utility box for tools, spare parts, oil and petrol cans etc.

If it has a devider (or traces of) its an WWI ammo box for MG08 - if not, for tools

This box is a tool box built between 1936 and 1941. The WWI Models are slightly different.
