Gents, is this original paint? It looks like it to me. He said he chipped off a small piece and the underside is reddish/pink which would lead me to believe it is in fact original.

Overall, what do you think?

What would be a fair value to assess this piece? Appears to be very nice and I want to make sure I pay the man a fair price and don't get ripped off at the same time!

It looks very old but I think there are layers of old paint under the color. Especially if you look at the adjusting wheel. Could be done in the 50´s who knows.
