        It's a german WW2 naval fuze, officially known as a "Kopfz******252;nder C/27 Leichtmetall".

These were used on various shells in calibers ranging from 12,7 cm to 30,5 cm.

        For more info see: http://213.147.167.60/blaze/viewtopic.php?t=1179

This is the aluminium one, which was a substitute for the brass version.
Later on, a steel version was also made.

You're fuze came from Norway recognizeable by the extra "LOT" number stamped onto it.

            Some info on the stamps.

"W" indicates that this fuze was to be fitted onto shells with a Whitworth screwing thread (don't know the exact english word for this).

            "23/40" : made week 23 of 1940.

the circular symbol is the factorysymbol of Rheinmetall, and of course is has a navy acceptance mark.
