Unknown case shell case maker

Hi everyone,
Not visited The Forum for a while, apologies, but I was wondering if anyone could help with identifying the maker or even the correct era of this particular bullet/case. I have been informed it may be German, but I don't know. Any help would, as always be much appreciated.

Scott, This is a German MODEL 88 Ctg. for the commission rifle and carbine.. The DM is the DWM factory and the K denotes that it was manfuctured at their Karlsruhe plant in 1896... BILL
