    Kriegsmarine Dienst Urkunde

    Good evening gents,

Although not a uniform or piece of equipment I wanted to post this here for your viewing pleasure.

I've had this for about 20 years and always thought it was a really beautiful document. Unlike some of the Army and Luftwaffe examples which almost have a cartoon looking quality, this KM example is graphically appealing.

Helmut Strobel would unfortunately die on a Vorpostenboot in the Baltic Sea as an Oberleutnant zur See on 20 Jul 43.

The pic of the ship is for reference only to show what a Vorpostenboot looked like (courtesy of: https://www.google.com/search?q=vorp...=1546139507099)

    Have a great 2019!

    Regards!

    Bob

Here's an update to this Thread.

Regarding Helmut Strobel, it appears he may have been on the V 1014, Richard Ohlrogge. V 1014 was the only Vorpostenboot sunk in the Baltic Sea on 20 Jul 1943. It struck an RAF aerial mine and sunk in what's known as the Great Belt. This is the largest straight that connects the Baltic to the North Sea in Denmark.
