Breast eagle from US Army soldier's footlocker

Found this eagle in a family members footlocker. Is it kriegsmarine? Strange, if it is since we know the soldier fought at Aachen with Infantry Rgt.

It is a coastal artillery breast eagle post 1940 on a field grey backing. Nice!

It very well could be a transition piece. I thought it looked darker from the front But the backside looked Field grey to me. It eagle it self is probably on a dark green with the base material being field grey. Either way it is a nice enlisted man's BeVo weave breast eagle.

Not rare IMO, many Kriegsmarine units fought in Aachen area during the crossing of the Rhine
