Kriegsmarine table/desk lamp

Hello all,

Picked up a bit of an oddity recently. Has anyone seen anything like it before? What is the dial that turns on the side for? The bulb is modern and it still works!

Nice and interesting, but if to be used aboard any kind of ship, I would expect it to have some kind of attachment construction.

In my opinion not an ordinary table lamp but one which is used in a technical or medical application.

Agree with compressore, the MWaA stamp with the code IV/1 was used by the Carl Zeiss test department, and is exact to those used by Zeiss in the binoculars, so probably it had something to do with optical instruments

This light should not be a modern light. I really like the look of it and the retro design. I hope that there is such a desk lamp beside my bed.
