WWII Kriegsmarine Sextant and Flare Gun

My father was USN Officer stationed in Bremerhaven, Germany in 1949-1952. His job was to help re-establish the German Merchant Marine, by using German naval officers and personal to man the ships. In his duties, he made quite a few friends with the German Officers he was working with. I'm 72 now, and inherited a few items 45 years ago that I need to stop storing. I would like to make sure they go to someone who can appreciate them. One is a working German stainless Flare gun (Walther SL - single barrel) that has Eagle markings. The other is a Plath Sextant with Nazi markings. As a retired Yacht delivery skipper, I can vouch for the sextant as being in good working condition. Thankfully I had the good sense to keep the Plath in a safe place, and not on a small sailboat during a delivery. As you can see, I really know very little about these two items. Please help me with value, and a suggested path to sell them to the right person.

    Welcome to the Forum Rey.

I don't know much about the flare gun, but there's a lot of factors that will affect the value of the Sextant. If you want to send some pics to me at soldat4@cox.net I'll post the pics here for you so we can all see what you've got.

Once again, welcome aboard and I hope to hear from you.

    Regards!

    Bob

I'm amazed by the response I've received from the Forum. Thank you all for your interest in these parts of history.
