          Hi Patrick,

The photos aren't great. They look blue but I'm assuming the ribbon is in fact black? From this distance, on the reverse, it looks like metal thread as opposed to cotton but closeups with your camera's macro setting, or scans would be better. How long is it - looks to be about 150 cm?

Having said that, pending the clarifications above, based on these views the preliminary impression is a good private purchase full-length KM tally in Metallfaden. But really need better views since the washed out photo from a distance actually makes it look more like cotton thread from the front...

          Best regards,
          ---Norm

Nope, I think it is blue looks like a non official "sweetheart" souvenier tally.

script should be cotton. have seen these in various colours for ships but don't recall seeing a non ship one before

Greetings, I agree, these photos are not the greatest. If this is a blue tally, then it means that this was most likely associated with the marine-HJ.
I will try to do some research to find where this particular unit was based and if there was a cadre of Marine HJ.

That being said. Better pictures would help to clarify the underlying color. Also to see what the material is for construction and lettering.

I have taken the liberty of attempting to enlarge the reverse shot. The tally appears to be a good one. But better pictures will be a plus.

              Regards,
              JustinG

There are sweetheart tallies as Robert pointed out. I too haven't seen examples except for named ships destroyer or larger.

Here's a shot of tallies from my collection.

                Regards,
                JustinG

I would request better pictures, since you have already purchased; Please post better shots and we will all be happy to give you our input.

I wouldn't worry too much, I haven't seen too many forgeries of these smaller units. This most likely is a good example.
Better pictures will help you out.

Oh, This should be posted on the cloth Headgear forum next time.

That's more like it. My first impression stands.
