              ...seahorse..

              Hallo guys,
this seahorse-decoration belong me. Ive asked Henri for posting in WAR, because im not association member. .....thx Henri...
My job is to manage housing-resolutions...find something.
This piece ive found in bequest from marine-soldier, hes training on
the Scharnhorst, dead in Antwerpen by bomb 1943...his relationship told.
Ive got some pics, kind of diary from his Scharnhorst-time...and this seahorse
too. Other things are sold. If i dont know whats is, i keep it.
Okay, thats the story, where from. Im only know its old, bevor 1943.
Seahorse with gold-cover. Kind of made might be 1920.
Thanks for look...and i hope for informations.
              Best Regards. Fred

                Seahorse and Scharnhorst

The only connection I could see between the seahorse and the KM Scharnhost - and this is a real stretch - would be with the on board air craft unit. If I am not mistaken the symbol used by the AR-196 unit was a seahorse on a shield. That having been said, one would think this one would also be on a shield instead of a rectangle. Also I am not aware of Luftwaffe personnel wearing unit symbols on their uniforms like the U-Boat men did. I would guess that this is more likely a remembrance of a loved one rather than a souvineer of military service.
