Tristan, Welcome to the forum. Now I see the pictures, what Dennis has said here cant be improved on, unfortunantly your helmet isn't even close to an original 70 year old winter camo helmet and this can be seen instantly by a moderately experienced helmet collector. Here we collect historical artifacts and are students of the period so anything less doesn't cut it . Stick around and learn, you will be glad you did in the long run, best regards, Bill

I do my ways in researching and can tell you that a messed with piece such as yours is impossible to research. The name could be real or fake but it could also be a real name of a soldier randomly selected in the graubersuche and just added to the shell. Unless you got a proof of the name such as group of items belonging to the soldier, picture of soldier wearing the helmet, you will never know.

I guess the name painted OVER the Norweigan post war paint means nothing! As bad as it gets, and the helmet too

A lot of new collectors will pull back the band at the chin strap ring and see the German writing and size on the band and think that the liner has been treated with some sort of leather cond. and that the liner is orig to the helmet. We know that after the war the Norwegians re worked the liner by dyeing it that reddish color so they think it is ok and just has cond. on it

Tristan, you should hang onto that helmet...I'm sure it's the centerpiece of your collection.

Yes, the Band has the date 1943 and all the markings
