I'd like to see some discussion on the camo SS field cap currently for sale on the e-stand.
In my early days of collecting, I stupidly got stuck with a fake. It was made out of the proper material, but it lacked the vents and grommets. I sent it to the highly respected Peter Whammond at The Collector's Guild for a look-see. He told me that original examples of this cap were EXTREMELY rare -- probably 4 legit caps in all of North America.
Is this the general consensus? If so, why are these caps so rare?
PLEASE NOTE: In NO WAY am I trying to impugne or question the integrity of the seller of this cap (who I have purchased from before). I would just like to learn more about them.
