To be honest Napalm, i am really not that arsed. Just seems a little wrong to me. None of my family fought on the Eastern Front, i am not of German or Soviet stock, i am Welch and British through and through. My family fought in WW1 and WW2, and a member of my family still lies somewhere near Ypres, RFA 1917.

If people went around digging random holes, i think i would be really p****d off. Thats just my opinion

Flanders is an area where they build new houses, roads, supermarkets, etc, on areas that used to be the front. Its not all fields like in the days of Sassoon. Better have a local digger recover a few relics (and hope he reports bodies), then let things rot underground while they wait to be built over, or ploughed over...

We entered the war because Japan attacked us at Pearl Harbor,ever heard of it?Hence we declared war on Japan and Germany and Italy,the Axis powers declared war on the United States.And you have the audacity to call Americans dumb asses.

With respect, that is stating the bleeding obvious.

If Russia had fallen in 41, The Nazi conquered Soviet Union would have had plentiful supplies of oil and raw materials for the German war machine, the Japanese would have had free reign in the East and Pacific. We (Great Britain) would have fallen shortly after.

I have read many many books on this subject, Roosevelt and America would have been forced into a stalemate situation.

When the Japanese sadly bombed pearl Harbour, Stalin realised that the Japanese had other plans in the east, this combated his fears that Japan were planning an attack on the Soviet eastern borders, this allowed him to pull in much needed Siberian well trained troops ( 2 million ) from eastern Russia for the defence of Moscow. That and the obvious tactical and planning blunders of Hitler and the rest is history.

I believe we (Allies) had allot to thank the Soviets for. If the battle on the Eastern Front had been a success, the world now would be a far different place.
