    Hi,

    fake ET decal.

Originals should look like these (on the left, one of famous author Ken Niewiarowicz, on the right, one of "real steel" member of warrelics.eu forum).

    Original source : http://www.warrelics.eu/forum/helmet...decals-698267/

Sheeeesh .... those look the same to me! My eyes are not calibrated, I guess. Is the fake one on the left? And the only clue is that the top rune is only 1mm lower and the bottom of the rune is only 1mm closer to the border?

        That's it?

No wonder I don't collect ϟϟ stuff!

Yes, the fake one is the one on the left (zoomed decal from the original picture shown in the first message of this topic), and yes if the fake/repro runes are a good imitation of the ET decal runes, they are badly positioned in the decal :
              - lower than original,
              - too near of the left of the decal border,
              - like greg.p said, this fake/repro ET decal should be more round on its side when here we can clearly see that its border breaks to the bottom.

                  Hello Guy,

                  you're welcome.

Usually SS helmets are discussed on the helmet subforum, were you will find there a lot of collectors that are big specialists.
Dozen of fake/repro variations of SS stickers exist, this is sometimes very hard to be sure about an original or a fake one.

You can get more infos on German helmets with the excellent website of Frank :

                  https://germanhelmetvault.com/
(highly advised reading, especially on the fakes and scams...)

and of course the publications of Ken Niewiarowicz and his website :

                    Vince,

Thank you very much for the "homework assignment." I really appreciate it.
                    What a minefield!

                    Cheers,

                        1000% fake.

I was always taught to double check the alignment of the SS Runes by simply running a line (see below)

Original on the Left . . . Fake on the Right

Beyond the decals its a pitted shell with the wrong colour paint over it.

Judging by the OP's image its that seller in Riga (blue, cream or green distinct background as well as every image has a filter over it so they look aged).
If it is 'stay clear' not only does he fake every and any German Helmet but he also filters his wares so they look older.
He does them all, including chinstraps, liners, etc
