    "IDIL-URAL" printed shield-for review

I would like to get your opinion about originality of this printed Volga Tatar sleeve shield.
I got the impression that this type of shield should have more elongated shape. Also, I have not seen cuts on the material like that anywhere else.
Is this item the artificially aged post war reproduction?
Thank your in advance for your comments.

    Hello,

It was ironed flat. At some time in its life it was folded for application to a tunic.

Very nice shields not seen very often especially in used condition.
        Cheers

          Klaus,
Not my area, but you have been posting some nice foreign volunteer shields. You should take this one, fold it back like it was, and put it under a stack of heavy books for a while to get it back to what it once looked like. You could also iron it with a thick cloth between the iron and the patch if you're not patient enough to wait for the book method, but be careful.

Beautiful beautiful shields. One of my most desired. Congrats, while ironed, still tunic removed and in just beautiful condition.

As we are here with Tartar insignia, I would like to show my Volga Tartar metal cap cocarde.
But, is this one original? I heard that good looking reproductions were produced.

                  Klaus,

I also wonder about this subject. I’ve got a number of these Enlisted mans stamped cockades. Some a dull finish and some, like yours, a brighter finish. One thing I’ve been keeping eyes on, is the colors used on these cockades.

Lots of recent ones have been bodenfund, but notice none have consistent coloration with ones we’ve seen in collections for decades. That’s what I look for, is the colors used for the paint.

Here’s some of mine with the dull finish Azeri one on left and the brighter finish, like yours on the right.

I posted a couple pics of this cockade in wear also. I think we should make a new thread for these cockades.

                  Matt

Thanks a lot, Matt, for showing your cockades and for the additional info.
I like very much the wedding photo showing the groom decorated with Eastern People Medals and EK2.
I think, it is a good idea to make a new threat for the cockades. I will place there my Terek Cossack one.
