            I agree. Nice silver Maedicke summer uniform bird of the first type (IMO) with the thin wrap around pin and diamond shaped breast feathers

                Terrific eagles!

                One thing I have noticed with these Maedicke eagles is that on later versions, with the broad pin, the pebble field around the swastika shows flat areas, which I guess was a sign of wear and repair to the press.

                This example illustrates the loss of detail in the pebbles in the lower half of the swastika ring, and is from an army eagle with a broad pin.

                  Yes Mark but I think its more than just the pebbling...If you look at some 2nd pattern Maedicke (not sure of they are all like that but mine are) at an angle you will see that the swastika is somewhat mishapen as well compared to 1st type birds. It might be die wear as you say but I rather suspect the guy crimping on the lower catch was "a bit" heavy handed with the crimping resulting in slight damages to the corresponding area of the front

                    Yes I was looking at the eyeball! See post 3 I only just captured it but the eyeball has a pupil!
