    Waffenrock Dress regulations

Hi guys , so I want to add a few items to my beautiful waffenrock but I have gotten different answers as to what I should put. Originally I was going to put an ek1 in the loops , attach an ek2 ribbon. Then I was going to put an IAB and BWB as well as a ribbon bar but that would require me having to put holes into this tunic. I was told that at first it was ok but then a few people had said that it would depreciate the value and that I should keep it as historically accurate as possible. I was told that ek2 ribbons as well as ribbon bars did not go on these even though I have seen pictures of both. And that if there was only one set of loops that it was most likely a wound badge or a DRL badge because the loops are to close together. And instead of a ribbon bar there should only be medal bars put on. One person suggested that I could attach my own loops that would only minimally damage the jacket but people said that , that was even a bad idea. At the very least I am attaching my grade 8 lanyard and my IAB what are your thoughts? Can I sew on a ek2 ribbon in the button and put an ek1 in the loops ? I want this to be as correct as possible? Again thank you for taking the time to read all this and I greatly appreciate your input! Thank you kindly in advance for your time.
    Best Regards,

That's a very nice jacket. I have one very similar for IR 31.

IMHO, I don't like adding things that weren't originally there. I think I can see a set of loops that almost certainly were intended for a DRL badge.

Your jacket appears to be in excellent condition, consistent with being consigned to a wardrobe when the war commenced. Most waffenrocks ended up that way. The junior rank also suggests this to be the case or maybe, like mine, an early casualty.

Having said all that, you're the current owner and can do whatever you like.

I think a IAB would fit perfectly in those loops, but I agree with mike, I wouldn’t alter the Tunic. If you are looking for a decorated Waffenrock I have one listed on the uniforms table right now.

Beautiful Tunic just the way it is

Don’t mess with originals. Sports badge is the best either SA or DRL in Bronze. I have two nice Pionier Waffenrocks that have no loops or nothing on them. I have them displayed with Paradge belts, EM visors, and they look great.

The I.R.105 was raised in october 1936.
I don't know if this waffenrock is dated, but imo it is very unlikely that an infanterie gefreiter would be decorated with EKI without IAB or WB.
So if there are only loops in place for displaying one award, then forgot the EKI and follow previous advice with sport badge.
Don't alter the tunic adding loops...

Ok thanks , ya that totally makes sense that he was most likely an early casualty so a sports badge or possibly a BWB could have been the original piece, I have the matching visor and belt as well so I am going to include those along with the lanyard once it’s together it’s going to look fantastic!

I'll try to answer a few of your questions.

EK2 buttonhole ribbons, EK2 medal bars, and EK2 ribbon bars were all worn on waffenrocks.

I would not add an EK2 buttonhole ribbon to this tunic but a 1 or 2 place ribbon bar (example EK2 + West Wall ribbons) would be a reasonable possibility.

As for the two loops on the breast of the tunic, as stated, a Sports badge is the most likely possibility but a Wound badge or an Infantry Assault badge could be used.
