I came across this photo of Ricky Gervais and Kate Winslet from the British TV series "Extras" (2005). What struck me was the authenticity of the uniform which may well be an original M-36 with first pattern tabs. The helmet looks pretty good as well as the field gear (well maybe not the "Y" straps). Perhaps I have simply recall the poor representations from movies and TV series in the past:

The BBC ("British Broadcasting Corporation") seems to have a good source of authentic-looking uniforms. There was a comedy series about the French resistance (which was a spoof of a BBC series called "Secret Army", which was about the 'lifeline' operation that helped shot-down bomber crews get home), and the uniforms in that were of a very high quality. There was a female heer helferin whose uniform was very authentic (although a basque covered in swastikas was questionable!), and the uniforms and awards of several German characters was 'right'. The bullion breast eagles on officers' tunics looked to be good quality, the waffenfarbe was consistent, and the badges and medals looked 'good'. The comedy series, "Allo, Allo", was a broad, slapstick kind of show, but the German uniforms were really very good.
