There are elements of the eagle's design that I would not be comfortable with if I was offered it as a separate item. The beak in particular, but the bullion-work on the torso is also 'iffy', in my opinion. Also, if you look at the left wingtip, the highlight that runs along the top of the wing actually curves round the wingtip and extends downwards. That is the first time I have ever seen that. However, more than that, I do not understand why the eagle has been so heavily damaged, to the point where a chunk of the backing has gone, and yet the wool of the tunic that surrounds it has not been similarly destroyed. Clearly the work of very picky moths! However, if you like the tunic itself, the good news is that you can pick up a genuine bullion bird in a condition that better matches the rest of the tunic relatively easily, so it can be replaced.
