    Meet Panzer Grenadier Herrmann

This is his named visor...a salty specimen for sure, but has character I think and I love the farbe!
It's even Sterndruckfrei! (courtesy of RonR thanks for the help!)

A salty set but displays well together! The Regimental cyphers have faded from lime green to straw yellow...

A salty match for sure the visor + this officers quality "Best dress" uniform, belt with Aluminum parade buckle!
(could have easily been found under the floor boards together!). Just love the farbe!
The unit was destroyed in Stalingrad and rebuilt. Thanks for looking!

Thanks! Yes that ties it to an interesting unit!
Here some unit stamps from Soldbuchs of that unit which I found on FB !
An early 1942 example (October) and a much later 1944 example (September)...
"Schutzen Regiment 108" became "Panzer Regiment 108" in July of 1942

Brilliant. That is a keeper Nick.

You must get a glass cabinet for this old "suit of armor"

                  Hi Nick,
Absolutely splendid visor and matches perfectly! Also, a Schellenberg made visor, whom is one of my all time favorite makers! A very rare and beautiful set to be sure.
                  Thank you for sharing,
                  Curtiss

Thanks for the kind comments so far.

Sehr gut! Tausche mal das algemeinesturmabzeichen gegen ein panzerkampfabzeichen in Bronze.

                    Makes sense I guess...but I don't have one....

Thanks guys. Great color image of Pz. Gren. 108 Commander Heinz Wittchow von Brese-Winiary showing the Hellgrün farbe!
Here's another nice color image with Hellgrün piping. A Panzer Grenadier taking pictures somewhere at home or behind the front.

Interesting that his Close Combat Clasp is upside down.

                            Regards,

Researching the unit a little bit more (Schutzen Regiment 108 -later Pz.Gren Reg 108) I can across some interesting English translations of a 14th Panzer Division medical report from their Medical officer concerning the documentation of a war crime against Regiment 108 dispatch riders on the Russian front in August of 1941,
so 7 weeks into Operation Barbarossa.

Apparently at this early stage of the campaign in the east it was still deemed important to document kriegsverbrechen, war crimes against the Wehrmacht.
Of course with the savagery of the Eastern front everything spiraled out of control quickly and both sides committed numerous crimes as both regimes slugged it out relentlessly and barbarism prevailed...and such documented investigations no doubt became a thing of the past (so did the Geneva convention)
                              Both sides showing no mercy....
