    shoulder boards

I found this picture of my granddad. It was taken "42, when he served with the Feldeisenbahn (Light Railway) in Kursk.
Can anyone help me with these shoulder boards?
    Thanks

    Sonderfuherer

I think it is some type of Sonderfuehrer. Was his occupation with the railway in civilian life? He could have been called up for his special skill in civilian life.

He is a Sonderfuhrer in Post Group "G". Basically a low NCO pay grade with little military training. He probably was a specialist in light rail etc.

Thanks for your replies. He was indeed working for the German Railway before/after the war, so that would fit.

I would expect to see the letter "E" on his schülterschnur, however it would not be a big issue in my mind.

Nice picture! Yes "E" cypher for Eisenbahn. Probably just shortages ...
He moved the silver loops up, which now rest in the spot where the metal insignia belong.
            Interesting, great observation.

So, this man would be the same grade of Sonderführer..??..a little more difficult to see the insignia, but they are the same as on Lawrence´s photo..
