Any informations regarding the rank ?

I received a couple OF e-mails explaining that it could be used by bishop (higher rank than chaplain).

Generally gold would indicate it being that of a bishop, so I'd be pretty confident to says so. Brian L. Davis also explains in well in his book German Army Uniforms and Insignia.
