    Infantry strap with edelweiss

    Hi Guys

I picked up this nice cut infantry strap with sewn edelweiss, I'm sure I have seen this done before as perhaps a unit insignia but haven't been able to find another.

Has anyone got a strap modified in this manner or any unit info please?

    Many thanks

    Patrick

The 210th Infantry Division used the edelweiss in part as the Division symbol but more often than not, these things were made by POWs or even Allied soldiers that captured insignia and sewed things together or after the War. It is very hard to know when it was done or what it is without knowing where it came from and its history.

        Vets

I have seen pieces where the German veteran would sew things together as keepsakes from his military time. Here is one example from Panzer Lehr .

Allied Vets also made what I call "pin cushions", this is a more elaborate version of that but you also find smaller things like your board were often done. Image from RIA
