Opinions on Heer tunic Infanterie Regiment 115

    Hello Guys,

I need some opinions on this Heer tunic of the 115 Infantry Regiment.

What kind of tunic is this? It looks like a mix of the M33 and M35 tunic. The lower pockets also have been modified.

    - If it is a M33 the collar tabs are not period correct (later version)
    - If it is a M35 the collar itself is not right IMO (has to be dark green)

For the rest it looks good I think.

    What do you think?

    Cheers

It appears to be a heavily worn M-34 tunic with tabs and tress added later (probably post war). Straps are original but probably added later to match (original) unit stampings.

Nice tunic in "been-there" condition the collar tress is in pretty worn condition. So good chances of being war-time applied together with tabs

Thanks. But how can you explain the late war tabs on a early (pre) war jacket? A jacket taken from old stocks and reissued for the late war effort? Or maybe used through the years and changed in function of later regulations?

                    Cheers

Soldiers had more than just one tunic. the tunic could just have been hanging in a wardrobe for a while/a few years and then used

One explanation is that early tunics were reused and reworked throughout the war. Very little was left to waste.

OK so it is perfectly possible to see an early war tunic with late war insignia? One would think you just pick an early war tunic with all its early war insignia to be used. It is clear that you can find later war tunics reworked to early war style (collar and insignia). But never heard of the opposite.

                          Thanks for the info guys
