Hi all, saw this colored pict from a german newsreel, and one have to say that Kurt is wearing his DKIG on a somewhat interesting and orthodox way..
Not exactly to regulations...

Probably bothered him when standing on the tanks tower or even would have gotten damaged when hit the metal of the tank. skalp

I have seen that footage many times. From propaganda film. I have always assumed that the award was simply worn that way in footage to be visible and more visual impact

Most the Vets I ever spoke with including Hans Sturm who was an RKT and had a DKiG said they would remove their awards during field operations. Even average soldiers awarded with GABs told me they would remove them and put them in their pockets.
