    Panzer board

    Hi,

A quick question regarding branch of service for the top board. A Heer Artillery board is present as the lower board in each scan for colour comparison. The top board appears to be an earlier Panzer board (glows a lovely orange under UV) but it appears to be black, rather than very dark green like the Artillery board. I guess it could be a washed out dark green, but if it is black does that still make it Heer or is it SS?

    Thanks & Regards
    Mike

      straps

Both of these shoulder straps (not boards, which are what officers wear) are private purchase based on their style and materials. The top one appears to be piped in pink and the basic color of the strap is unclear, though it looks more like dark green to me. With the battalion ID loop on it I would say it is an army strap even if it is black. The other one is clearly artillery as you stated.

Both are private purchase heer boards. The on appears to be black with red popping for a black Pz wrapper and it would be Pz artillery. Both are nice straps, and I wouldn't consider a board SS with out a branch color and then a black wool underlay. Matt

Thanks gents, appreciated. The top board/strap is definitely pink in hand - I haven't seen/heard of Artillery red fluorescing orange, only the period pinks/carmines! Thanks for clarifying the branch of service as definitely Heer.
