Heer Breast Ealge - A Really Neat One

All, this was an SOS pick-up. Amazing patina and crafting. Here's the question: Under a magnifying glass, it looks like it's a general's eagle, but that bullion is toned big-time. I'd like to know what others think. As always, any help very much appreciated!

        Hello,

Probably a real silver wire eagle that has just toned nicely! Very nice looking eagle!!

I agree, I think just a very well done early silver bullion eagle.

              Don,

It was great meeting you. Putting a real name and a Face to a WAF'er makes these shows a lot nicer.

I say clearly a KM coast artillery breast eagle.

It is on field gray backing - did early KM tunics use field gray?

The did wear field grey uniforms but it is silver, you can see the original bullion color clearly on the threads in the back of the wreath. The golden brown color is patina and the interior of the threads.

I have a couple similar to this on heer uniforms, over time they turn almost a purple gold color.

                          Breast Eagle

Don, think I know where you got this one as it came from my collection. I always considered it to be an early, standard officer's eagle that had toned.

                          Best Regards,

                          Shawn

Shawn, did you sell it to a Brit?

                              Texan

No, it went to a fellow Texan (dealer). He told me that he had sold that particular eagle during the SOS, but did not say who the buyer was. Here is a similar eagle on the mossy green backing that I kept.
