Are you talking about the wrap itself, for instance maybe too much stiching lines for colar attachment on an early one ? Or just about insignias ?
If possible, it would be more simple to have other wiews of details from the wrap, like its inside construction, and how eagle is applied and shoulder straps are seewn (inside at the sleeve's departure), close wiew of wool piping, etc....

I will post some more pictures. The wrap was found in 1980 just like this. It was found in Russia. Any alterations to it, if post war are at minimum 35 years old.

Studio markings. I believe these to be genuine markings.

I think that, at best, this is an original jacket that has been reworked. The strap numbers are definitely suspect, being worked in a fashion not typical of originals and not corresponding to any regiment or Abteilung either Nachrichten or Kavallerie. The lining seems to have numerous picks as though reworked. The markings are inconsistant with prewar German tunics (manufacturer? Bekleidungsamt?) The piping appears unconvincing to me, both collar and tabs. Too many red flags.

IMO, an Original jacket manufactured by firm of “Heinz Holtfreter” GmbH, Berlin (mfg. stamp likely to be found inside the “internal horizontal pocket” (reference page 11 of “Panzer Feldjacke” by Scott Pritchett.

From the pictures provided, it appears that significant alterations/modifications have been made, which an examination would clearly help indicate if they were done wartime.

An illustration of this particular manufacturer stamp is also given in page 50 of this book.

Right, thought it could have been the maker from page 48,top right corner (have owned a few of these with Soviet markings) but I don't believe they had the two rows of stitching on the top of the other internal pocket, later cut as well.

After checking, an Aufklärungs-Abteilung 6 appears in OB of 6.Infanterie-Division in september 1939 :

                    http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/...sionen/6ID.htm

I focused initialy on the color of the n° "6" wich seems added and looks Zitronengelb for Nachrichten, but piping of colar, colar tabs and shoulder straps could match more with Aufklärung Goldgelb, and would be more believable.
It is possble as A.A. 6 used armored cars according this Gliederung :

And this film (go to 1'15) if the unit identification is correct :

If this wrap was constructed circa 39-40 as indicated in this thread, when is the generally excepted time frame for the discontinuation of factory piping on wraps?

This is a first pattern wrap, so it's manufacture would have been earlier than '39-'40.

Thank you for your assistance with all of this. What would you say would be the latest date when factory piping on wraps ended?

This topic has come up before and several references have wrongly extended the period of collar piping (imo). I would say early '39 would be the latest.

I believe I addressed that in post #23....The photos are not exactly top quality and I missed the cut of the collar in the first series of photos (my bad)
