    A 'Feldgendarmerie' cuff-title in wool?

    Dear all,

Did anyone of you ever saw a piece like this? It concerns a 'Feldgendarmerie' cuff-title as unusually executed in wool....

I obtained it some months ago and I have actually never seen one before....and it might be not a period piece ie. a post-war copy.

It has, however, some characteristics I really like....so what are your opinions?

    Who can help me out?
Thanks for your help and assistance!

    Best regards,

    Coco

I've seen one executed in wool but a different, nothing like this one. This cuff title is interesting and IMO looks promising. Did you black-light and burn-test it for the start? it is constructed of quite a few different materials and threads that you could test. I would definitely do that, it might give some clues but I am afraid you won't find any info on this particular type as I personally have never seen like this one before while I have been interested in 'Feldgendarmerie' cuff-titles for many years. Cheers

It's a very interesting one for sure, I do like it a lot more than I don't. The embroidery looks really good and the cuff title as a whole is executed very well IMHO. Matt

This title is police related, when the army was recruiting feldgendarm personnel they went to the polizei for its first recruits mainly the motoriserte gendarmerie. This is why the title is in police colour and fabric. The later machine embroidered feldgendarmerie title kept the light brown colour to show that the first recruits came for the polizei. In my opinion nice original title, for more info on this title contact Gordon Williamson who is currently writing a book on his very subject. If this is for sale I would be interested in buying it

Feldgendarmerie and the motoriserte being worn at the same time by these police personnel

                The FG cuff-title...

                Dear all,

Thanks a lot for your promising answers and/or opinions! I really think it is a period piece (it came with other items that are beyond any doubt) and I thought immediately that it was okay.

I have checked it with a black-light and it did not light-up so so that is also promising....It has indeed certain characteristics of a camel-hair Afrika cuff-title, so indeed could the explanation of German Police as above well be the case....I will also sent Gordon Williamson a PM to ask his opinion....

                Thanks a lot guys.....most appreciated!

                Best regards,

This is a uniform removed example with aluminum bullion lettering on wool.

In the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king.

Duct tape can't fix stupid, but it can muffle the sound.

Very nice cuff title, Bob, the wool one I saw had no borders either.
