I just went through the complete thread again tonight and all I can say is . There is more rare insignia posted in this thread then I've seen in any reference book.Too bad some of the pictures disappeared. I haven't read Sarges article on Shoulderboards lately, but I hope that some of the insignia shown here makes it into the article.

Heres another meager contribution of mine. Not sexy, but not all that common either.

Heres a set of field made camo ones. They were on a field made Italian Camo tunic I have. The tunic originally had SS insignia which was removed. With all the repros out there I understand they are all suspect. I won't say these are 100% original. I do believe they have a better then average chance of being real then the vast majority I've seen offered as real.

I welcome any comments pro or con.

Heres a shot of the upper portion.

                      Shoulder straps

More great pieces! The variations never cease to amaze! I know someone is drooling over the Panzer Pionier straps!

                        Hauptmann

Here is an interesting variation in the construction of officer's shoulder boards. The piping consists of a strip of cord style piping as seen on private purchase shoulder straps. The underside is a strip of field grey wool. The boards are from a Hauptmann of a Gebirgsjaeger Schule or possibly Panzergrenadier. There seems to a bit of cross over for the colors worn by the respective units.
