Gents,
Is there any difference between a Gen. Off. and a Naval Officer's gilt metal cap eagle? Are they interchangeable? I have an enlisted naval cap eagle, and it is definitely brass. I've not seen nor read any evidence that there is a difference. Perhaps in the wreath, or shape of the eagle? I guess if the eagle were dated 1943 or later, one could assume it to be one or the other--as one chooses, but unless it were attributable to a General Officer, no one could really tell one way or another. I'm putting together a display, and hope to get examples of all the metal eagles/cap devices, and would like to be able to distinguish between the two if possible.
