While I concur that they are nice originals. I would say they are issue breeches for mounted personnel (Cavalry and some Artillery) and not Officer Breeches which were normally tailor made and privately purchased.

Nice set! I have 2 pairs. As explained already indeed standard government issue for troops
(mounted cavalry and horse drawn artillery), hence the standard issuance size stamps.

The title "officers pants" is indeed inaccurate (not a private purchase garment)
but of course officers could have obtained and used these as well (for field wear!)
I used one of my sets (made in smooth Italian wool) for an officer impression!
