    Neat German patch blanket? Souvenirs?

    Hello forum...

I bought this and a few other items last Saturday at an estate sale.

It appears to have been made by a POW? Any way to figure what ever happend to the POW?

    Thanks for the help. Robert

Very cool and good to see the tropical items on it. Is that a tropical cockade on it?

Trading/obtaining uniform removed patches with other POW's makes sense...
but it does make you wonder how a POW (behind barbed wire) can get hold of unissued insignia?
(Breast eagle, jaeger and edelweiss patches...)

Until I saw the label I had assumed it was a US Vet done item rather than by a POW. The label is a bit odd IMHO.

                      thanks guys for the comments.

any way to figure out where this German soldier was a POW?

Was he a POW in the USA, or overseas in Germany?

POW's in the US had access to all sorts of tools.

I have seen sculptures, plates, paintings, etc. made by POW's sold to the local residents in the states.

Yes, they would have sewing machines in a US/stateside POW camp.

There were hundreds of camps in the US. In fact... one less than 4 miles from my home that held submariners. Robert

some examples of POW made items in the USA below
