    tunic opinions

I am posting this one as requested by another member..

To me it is a nice tailor made warm weather tunic with all insignia originally applaid + award loops.. it is salty and worn and unfortunetly moths did a job on the inside of the collar and on the eagle..

The tunic has had padding added to the shoulders, done with the same thread wich has been used to construct the tunic.. quite sloppy sewing but in my opinion there is no question this is period done..

    All the best

Jens, do you see any evidence of it having had a partial liner at some point? It looks odd that the padding is just sort of out in the open on the shoulders.

No signs of a linning being in there.. but the padding matches the cloth used to reinforce the armpit area..

These usually were not lined. It is made out of some sort of light canvas maybe a Soviet or allied shelter quarter. It the padding shows age and is made of period materials is probably is original. These were most often made at Company level in the field and most are fairly crude made for field use. This one shows heavy field use.

I agree Johnny, and judging from the tailorwork on this one my guess would be company level aswell..
