Opinions on WH NCO tunic on EStand

    Hello Gents,

I'm might be interested in the following tunic offer on our Estand:

    http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=623316

I'm no WH collector at all, so I'd really appreciate everyone opinions on it's originality, details, applied eagle, etc. pp. What ever comes to mind.

Thank you very much in advance!

    Markus

looks like original base tunic....all insignia restored, the collar looks restored too.

There seems to be glue under the eagle, perhaps someone had glued an eagle there before.

            Many thanks Daniel !

Yes, the eagle looks pretty much replaced. I didn't even notice that at first glance, geeee.....

Below a photo of my Grandfather Rudolf "Rudi" Carstens.

This photo was taken in August 1943 after he was awarded the EK-1 at Staraja-Russa. (He served with the 30. I.D. from 1939-1945 in Kurland)

It stuck me that the above tunic pretty well reassembles the modified tunic my Opa was wearing or am I totally off here?!

Nope, I don't think your off. The tunics appear to be very similar in style, both being nco upgraded enlisted tunics, the only immediate noticeable difference is your grandfathers is an m42, note the pointed pocket flaps, and the one posted is an m43 model with the straight pockets.

Looking at the pocket flaps indeed your opa's = an earlier M42 with bat wing flaps and the straight flaps = a later M43
(both modified with M36 collar...) Close but no cigar!
If you want the exact same modified tunic I would not buy this one... Your opa's tunic also has generic litzen, the estand one has early
white infantry waffenfarbe M36 litzen...to complete that early look!
You need the later generic green "einheitz" litzen...without branch color!

Thanks a lot guys. True, an M42. I should have seen that.

Now how frequently are modified M42s like my Opa's encountered?

Will I have a terribly hard time and better continue my LAH stuff or will I actually get lucky rather easily?

                      Markus.

They are not so rare, PvL had one just like your granddads not long ago, i will keep an eye out for you as im looking for a M42/43 (unmodified though) tunic myself.

There is an M42 modified tunic on Estand right now, although its been modified with an officer collar, so close but no cigarr for you yet.

Dont worry, you will find one.

                      Daniel.

I think that the collar and bellows pocket have been repaired. IMO

                        Regards.

Many thanks for all your opinions and tips!

Now I see a lot clearer and know what to really be out looking for....and I thought collecting a little WH would be a walk in the park....think twice!

@ Daniel: It would be great if you could give me a headsup in case you'd see an M42 modified to Uffz rank.
