The thread color looks gray with a loop and appears to be the close color of the tabs thread.

I like what I see however I would have expected to see GJ waffenfarbe in the collar tabs for such an early tunic, thus leading me to think that the edelweiss could have been sewn anytime, could be correct though.
Just my thoughts on a superb tunic!

On a 1939 dated tunic it is quite common to see the universal litzen vs piped.

These could have been applied at origine but tunic was upgraded later in war so not at all uncommon.

No problem and thank you for commenting. I agree with your edelweiss insignia statement, unless unit marked or other supporting information one would always have to speculate. I had mentioned that earlier in the posting as well.

In this case with the Lago Munich maker ,Augsberg factory, and overall look and feel of it for me anyway I like it.

composition wise I would expect to see waffenfarbe litzen combined with pointed straps, but I geuss it was replaced at some point later.

Hello Gentlemen,
It has been my experience that '39 dated tunics have been non-waffenfarbe piped collar tabs. I usually see original examples with einheitzletze attached directly to the collar or to dark green badge cloth (in my opinion).

I agree but I guess it would depend on the manufacturer as I have several '39 and '40 dated GJ M36's that have the waffenfarbed litzen.

She definitely has the perfect blend between Salt and combat worn. It brings out a very nice look to it!

As for the GJ, there's definitely no problem with the lack of waffenfarbe - though its presence would have been just that much more a comfort. For me, it seems well placed and likely period applied, so it stands a chance as being original to the tunic!

I really like the tunic and think you've done very well for yourself. Congrats!

I think that everything on the tunic (except maybe the boards) were on it pre-45. It was common if not almost required for insignia to be moved/replaced and augmented on tunics that survived to be worn over a period of several years during the war...these were I think a minority(real survivors) and there is nothing to apologize for because something was actually checked out of a supply room and fought in WWII......it seems popular today to prize the most the things that had the least role in the war...go figure?

The boards and the tress on them are several years earlier than the tunic...maybe 1935 or so with that tress..IMO. They could have been used on that tunic...picked up somehow....and they may have always been together whereever they were used.......I am not a believer that these boards were supposed to matched per se on the underside colors etc....

My guess is theat this tunic may have actually been worn with feldgrau boards at some point in the war and these were replaced by a collector to make it look more right in their eyes....or the boards were lost on it after the war.
