    Need help with GD insignia

A friend needs help determining authenticity of some GD insignia, but it's an area I don't collect in, so I would like your opinion on them. They are a sleeve band and 2 metal board devices. The sleeve band is the variation with the reserved 3 shape at the bottom of the T. The prongs of the devices do not pierce the underlay, so no prong photos available.

I did a search on GD cyphers and bands, but realized most of those threads go unanswered. So instead of leaving this just as a dead end like the majority of these threads, I decided to assess the items as best as I could.
The sleeveband is an unique non-text book style, whose authenticity had been questioned in the past, because of unusual features in the Sütterlin script. Scott Pritchett's GD book Volmune 2, page 36 accepts it as original, but he doesn't appear to make too much of an effort to solidly establish it's authenticity, so I can imagine that it is still not entirely clear of controversy.
The very gold cypher appears to be a rare type 7, according to the same reference . The last cypher looks like a type 4.
Both cyphers look good to me, but I don't know what to think of the cuff title, which this thread tends to question http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...5&highlight=GD
Anyway, giving my friend a mixed message was the best I could do based on the references I have at hand.

The author of the reference was kind enough to get in touch with me, so the matter is now closed as far as I'm concerned.

What is the word on these Nick? I for one was curious as to the verdict on the CT!

I'm glad for you. I simply do not know enough about either the title or the cyphers to be of any help to you. I have probably spent 100 hours over several decades studying both...but the fakes seem to just get better.

For what it may be worth to you I saw no problems with any of it compared to the fakes that I know of. That type of title I am weak on....but I really liked the last cypher in regards to how it was made and finished....I thought both had correct detail all the way around.

                Nick,

I reflect the same sentiments as Phil. I have the books, and recognized the CT as good...but I would have had to go through and research the cyphers. I just didn't have the time or I would have. I was fairly confident about the outcome, I've seen a lot of fake GD cyphers, and these didn't strike me as the same. Congratulations!

Phild and Richard thanks for your honest comments. I always value your input greatly and it is good to know that I was already in good company when I was feeling a little lost about these items. My friend had apparently gotten two uniforms as a grouping cheaply when the CT was still regarded as suspect, so it was he that won the lottery. I can imagine his blood draining, when I initially told him of the CT, that it's like the Loch Ness Monster, a few say it exists, based on a grainy B&W photo, but many still are not convinced.
